Frugals summer publication!

It’s finally SUMMER! Granted, with all the crazy weather we’ve been having lately, it feels a little more like spring, but school is out & there are SO many different things going on all around the Eastern Shore that there’s bound to be something you’ll find interesting. The Summer edition of Frugals was recently published, and you can use it as a directory to find the many events and even use it to save a few bucks!

I have to share with you my recent savings using Frugals: Our AC unit stopped cooling one night, and of course it was the beginning of a “heat wave” so I knew I needed to have it looked at quickly. I flipped through my Frugals until I found an ad for Hickman Heating, Plumbing & Air. I called the number listed, and believe it or not, they were able to come to my house the very same day! I mentioned the ad, and saved $20 off my service call bill. The Millsboro Chamber is hosting The Dukes Festival on Saturday, September 21, which features a parade, food, music, “Chickin’ Pickin” and more! Another fundraiser in September is the Humane Society of Wicomico County’s golf tournament on September 28. Cost is $225/4 person team, which includes your cart and lunch. Not into jumping…water more your thing? Check out West OC Watersports on page 41. They have pontoon rentals, 2 hour bay fishing trips, and even a booze cruise for the adults for up to as many as 16 passengers. No fishing license is required, and price includes rods & bait, with beer/soda/snacks available. Always wanted to see some of the islands the way the “locals” do? Check out Assateague Adventure in Chincoteague for scenic day cruises starting at just $25! Rates/departure times may vary and reservations are suggested.

Saladworks (page 14) offers 10% off an entrée, Paul’s Pizza (page 23), an authentic New York pizza parlor in Salisbury, offers a FREE topping on any size pizza, Mister Paul’s Legacy in Salisbury (location for previous coupon classes) now features “Two Wheel Tuesdays” featuring live music, food & drink specials, and even a bike contest. Frugals--Summer edition

If you’re like me, you look forward to the beginning of each quarter because it means a new edition of the Frugals publication is out! However, I seem to have a hard time locating one the first week or so. I guess everyone else is as excited as I am about it and just beats me to the punch in picking one up. This time, I checked several locations, including Super Giant, Red Door Sub Shop, and 2 different Food Lions, until I finally managed to get one from the Health Department!

With the temperature being as high as it’s been the past week or so, pretty much everyone I know has been trying to find a way to keep cool, with as little cost as possible. On the inside cover, you will find coupons good towards admission at Berlin’s Frontier Town water park & golf area, as well as their western theme park. I took my kids a few weeks back & they LOVED it! Heck, if you’re the camping type, why not stay at the campground, and save $15 on a weekly rental!

Delmarva Discovery Center in Pocomoke is another awesome place for kids to learn cool new things and have fun at the same time. And, membership is one of the cheapest around, too ($40 for your entire family for a year)! They are hosting a special fundraising event called Stars Soul Rock & Roll on September 15 at the Nassawango Country Club in Snow Hill. Your ticket includes an island theme dinner, dancing, 2 premium liquor tickets and an enjoyable evening. Hurry though, tickets are selling fast, and there is limited seating available.

I’ve posted about it before, but the annual fall Coastal Kids Consignment Sale is coming up right around the corner! In addition to the Salisbury sale, this year, a new event in Berlin will be held, location to be announced. Check out their website for details on all the upcoming events.

Are you the crafty type? Know someone who is? Check out Handmade Galleria located across from the Twilley Centre in Salisbury. They feature jewelry, handmade home décor and MUCH more! The Worcester County Fair is the weekend right after that from August 10-12 in Byrd Park (Snow Hill) and is another FREE admission event featuring plenty of great food, livestock exhibits, classic cars, music, horse show, contests, games, and demonstrations. Riverside Carnival, held at the St Francis de Sales Parish from September 20-22, offers free admission to those attending, but you can also save $3 on rides with their coupon on page 26. Breckenridge Farms (Linkwood, MD) has an amazing 9 acre corn maze and pumpkin patch, paintball and even an ATV park. Too hot for you outside and looking for something to do inside? Then check out the Wicomico Public Library or the Worcester County Library as they often have FREE events for individuals of all ages, including comedians, ghost hunters, talent shows, and even an inflatable planetarium!

Regal FREE summer movies!

Moviegoers of all ages can climb aboard the Summer Movie Express to enjoy a great selection of films.
