Frugals Winter edition!

One of the things I look forward to most after the hustle and bustle of the Holiday season is getting the newest copy of the Frugals publication!  As always, the Winter 2015 edition is packed full with TONS of coupons at local retailers in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia.

Buchanan Subaru graces the cover, and on the inside of the front cover you will find a variety of coupons towards one of their many services.  A few minutes south, into New Church, VA is where Davis Auto Center is located.  They want to give you $200 off when you present the coupon on page 41.  Just north of Buchanan, in Westover, you will find R W Motors, who is featured on page 6.  Here you will find an offer for $750 off any car or truck on their lot!  Just a little farther north to Delmar, DE, is K&B Auto.  On page 12, they have a coupon for $100 off your down payment with any vehicle purchase.  For those who may be lucky enough to already have a vehicle, but still need driving school, check out Drive Time with locations in Salisbury and Berlin.  Classes start at only $49 & there is a $10 coupon on page 17.  On the same page, you will also find coupons for Grease Monkey good towards $15 off a full service oil change & tire rotation package or $10 off brake service.  

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner…Instead of giving the same old gift, give your Someone Special something special this year!  Try an Edible Arrangement and save $5 off an arrangement or dipped fruit box with the coupon on page 17.  If a romantic dinner out is more your style, then check out the Mar-Va Theater’s Valentine Cabaret event.  It features dinner and wine pairings on February 13.  See page 33 for more details.  I don’t know too many women who turn down jewelry….well, none actually! If you’re looking for a new radio station to listen to, flip to 96.5 FM, CTG, the Variety Station.  CTG features a blend of rock & pop hits from the 70s thru today.  The on air team is unique in that all the programming is live with local personalities.  That old saying that “variety is the spice of life” has proven quite true as CTG Variety has become a fast growing entertainment and information source for the shore.  Check out pages 7-9 for more information on this station!

Many people dread the start of a new year, because it means tax season is lurking in the shadows.  Nothing takes away the joy of the holiday faster than a tax bill.  Luckily, you don’t have to fret over doing them yourself.  Liberty Tax has a coupon on page 16 good for $31 off your tax prep fee.  They have locations in Salisbury and Pocomoke.  The Book End in Exmore, VA, offers income tax preparation, bookkeeping services and payroll, including direct deposit and debit card.  Check out their ad on page 37.  H&R Block in Pocomoke has a coupon on page 32 valid for $25 off your tax prep for new clients.  This year, it seems as if our tax refund might already be claimed as my son was recently told he may need braces…I’ll admit it, the thought of that bill scares the crap out of me!  But, with the coupon for Dr. James Crouse on page 18, maybe it might not be so bad after all.  Hey, every little bit helps!

Frugals winter 2014

Happy New Year!  In case the frigid temperatures have kept you indoors, the Winter 2014 edition of Frugals is now available, and as usual, there are TONS of great coupons and offers to be had!

Despite the fact that I’m supposed to be eating healthy, the front cover advertiser, Dairy Queen, has my mouth watering for a thick & creamy “Blizzard.”  Banana cream pie is my favorite flavor.  What’s yours?  On the inside of the front cover, there are coupons for BOGO FREE double cheeseburgers and Orange Julius drinks.  The coupons can be redeemed at the North Salisbury location (next to Bob Evans) or Nanticoke Road (by the Rite Aid & Food Lion shopping center).

My kids new favorite place to eat is Hardees.  Their kids meals are MUCH cheaper than the competitors, and no matter where you’re located, there’s one not far from you.  On page 9, you will find several coupons for both breakfast and lunch/dinner meals.  Don’t forget their “Pick any 2” deal for $5 (no coupon required).
On page 12, Uno Chicago Grill has a coupon for BOGO entrée when you also buy 2 drinks.  The picture on the coupon looks absolutely devine!

No doubt you’ve noticed the cold temperatures we’ve been experiencing.  Peninsula Oil doesn’t just provide oil & propane—they also offer heating and A/C service, plumbing, drain cleaning, and trash/recycling (only in Sussex County).  On page 5,  there are 3 coupons valid on a service call, new installation and UV lamp installation.  Check them out!
Do you live in an area that doesn’t receive the benefit of plowing when we receive snow?  If so, check out the ad on page 6 for Clamshell Driveways.  They offer lot clearing and plowing in addition to their namesake, clamshell driveways.  They specialize in large lots, chicken farms, and offer FREE spreading.  No job is too big or too small!

Do you have a teen in your house who’s getting ready to get their driving permit, but still needs Drivers Ed?  Drive Time in Berlin & Salisbury offers a variety of classes, including Driver Education and Driver Improvement, in both day & night time slots.  They’re the best value shorewide at $299.93!  See pages 13 & 33 for their ads.

In case you haven’t heard, the film industry is eliminating the use of 35mm films effective immediately.  You may think that this doesn’t impact you in any way, but if you have ever been to a movie at the Mar-Va Theater in Pocomoke, it does!  In order to upgrade their equipment to industry standards, they are being required to raise a significant amount of money in a short amount of time, or close their doors.  Until the equipment is upgraded, movies can not be shown.  But, that doesn’t mean that they’re not featuring anything.  Check out Pirates of the Chesapeake ballet on February 1 or the Valentine Cabaret on February 13.  If you or your organization would like to donate, please check out their active online fundraiser, and of course they can accept donations at all of their events.  This is an important part of Eastern Shore history, especially in Pocomoke, but provides entertainment for families throughout the area.
