How I got a FREE Kenmore vacuum!

I've had my eye on a new vacuum for a few months now. We've been lucky enough to keep the same vacuum for the 8 years we've been married, but I think it's finally lost just about all of its sucking power.

Having had such good luck with the Kenmore brand, I noticed one on sale at Kmart a few weeks back for the price of $139.99 (regular price $169.99). I went in the store to make my purchase, upset to find they had none in stock. I was able to obtain a rain check for the sale price, so I didn't worry about it too much. Well, this week, I saw the same vacuum on sale again, this time for a price of $129.99!

Yesterday morning, I received an email from Kmart/Sears to let me know the balance of my Shop Your Way rewards points, which were set to expire at the end of this month. This prompted me to check online for the vacuum, just to see if it was the same price. Surprisingly enough, it wasn't--it was CHEAPER at $119.99! There was also an online coupon code for $5 off an order. Excited beyond belief, I added the vacuum to my online cart at the online sale price plus the $5 off, and choosing to pick up in store, so there was no shipping cost. When it came time to checkout, I was able to enter my rewards card # and using the points I had on there, it covered the entire cost of the vacuum PLUS I still have about $50 worth of points left to spend between now and the end of this month!

When I went to pick up my purchase, the Kmart employee let me know that they hadn't deducted my points for the transaction, so I still had those left....I advised him that they had indeed deducted the points, but the points remaining were left over after the deduction. He was throttled to say the least!
