Frugals--Summer edition

If you’re like me, you look forward to the beginning of each quarter because it means a new edition of the Frugals publication is out! However, I seem to have a hard time locating one the first week or so. I guess everyone else is as excited as I am about it and just beats me to the punch in picking one up. This time, I checked several locations, including Super Giant, Red Door Sub Shop, and 2 different Food Lions, until I finally managed to get one from the Health Department!

With the temperature being as high as it’s been the past week or so, pretty much everyone I know has been trying to find a way to keep cool, with as little cost as possible. On the inside cover, you will find coupons good towards admission at Berlin’s Frontier Town water park & golf area, as well as their western theme park. I took my kids a few weeks back & they LOVED it! Heck, if you’re the camping type, why not stay at the campground, and save $15 on a weekly rental!

Delmarva Discovery Center in Pocomoke is another awesome place for kids to learn cool new things and have fun at the same time. And, membership is one of the cheapest around, too ($40 for your entire family for a year)! They are hosting a special fundraising event called Stars Soul Rock & Roll on September 15 at the Nassawango Country Club in Snow Hill. Your ticket includes an island theme dinner, dancing, 2 premium liquor tickets and an enjoyable evening. Hurry though, tickets are selling fast, and there is limited seating available.

I’ve posted about it before, but the annual fall Coastal Kids Consignment Sale is coming up right around the corner! In addition to the Salisbury sale, this year, a new event in Berlin will be held, location to be announced. Check out their website for details on all the upcoming events.

Are you the crafty type? Know someone who is? Check out Handmade Galleria located across from the Twilley Centre in Salisbury. They feature jewelry, handmade home décor and MUCH more! You can even save an extra 20% off your purchase of $40 or more if you use the coupon located on page 17. Inside the store is another business, Coyote Custom Woodworking, which features unique hand carved items. There’s a BOGO ½ off (buy one, get one) coupon available for this store.

Because it’s summer, there are plenty of carnivals and outdoor festivities going on. The Chincoteague Blueberry Festival is July 20-22, and features music, food, fun kid stuff, Ultimate Blueberry pie, and of course, fresh blueberries! Save $1 off adult admission with the coupon on page 52. If you’re planning on making a day of it, stay for the Chincoteague Fireman’s Carnival and save $3 of their ride wristband (coupon on page 50). The Sharptown Fireman’s Carnival runs July 26-August 18, and there are coupons for savings on their rides located on page 19. The Great Pocomoke Fair is August 2-4 and will have a tractor pull, horse show, food, exhibits, contests, rides, and harness racing! Let’s not forget the annual Blessing of the Combines in Snow Hill on August 4 at 11am. There will be a parade of the local farmer’s combines, a “Scales & Tales” presentation by the Pocomoke River State Park, a petting barnyard, wagon hay rides, children’s tractor pull, live entertainment and LOTS of GREAT food! This event is FREE to the public. The Worcester County Fair is the weekend right after that from August 10-12 in Byrd Park (Snow Hill) and is another FREE admission event featuring plenty of great food, livestock exhibits, classic cars, music, horse show, contests, games, and demonstrations. Riverside Carnival, held at the St Francis de Sales Parish from September 20-22, offers free admission to those attending, but you can also save $3 on rides with their coupon on page 26. Breckenridge Farms (Linkwood, MD) has an amazing 9 acre corn maze and pumpkin patch, paintball and even an ATV park. Too hot for you outside and looking for something to do inside? Then check out the Wicomico Public Library or the Worcester County Library as they often have FREE events for individuals of all ages, including comedians, ghost hunters, talent shows, and even an inflatable planetarium!

Is “antiquing” your thing? What about scouring a consignment shop to find yourself something “new to me”? A 2nd Time Around, located in Pocomoke offers 20% off your total purchase of over $15 with the coupon on page 37. Season’s Best Antiques in Salisbury is looking to fill vendor space and is offering a FREE month of space rental when you sign a 3 month agreement, which is up to a $300 value! Finders Keepers in Salisbury is offering 15% off your purchase there (coupon located on page 16). Somerset Choice Antiques Gifts & Books in Historic Princess Anne features a wide variety of antiques, gifts, books, collectibles, home décor and other unique finds.

Are you one of those people who clips coupons, but can never remember to bring them with you? Then try texting GOOSE to 410-713-4500 to begin receiving instant discounts redeemable at all Goose Creek food stores.
