Frugals fall 2012 publication

Fall is my favorite time of the year, for many reasons, but mainly because there are SO many great family activities around here to do, and for little to no cost!

Breckenridge Farms in Linkwood, MD is offering a $2 discount on admission to their 9+ acre corn maze.  But, they also have a pick your own pumpkin patch and hay rides.  One of my kids favorite place to visit is Adkins Farm Market in Salisbury.  They have a BOGO free admission to their corn maze/play area.  They also have a fall decorating bundle for $25, which includes ½ bale straw, 1 bundle of corn stalks, 1 large pumpkin, 2 small pumpkins, gourds, and 2 mums.  But hurry, these places close for the season at the end of October.  There’s a new garden store just down the road from me, and I can’t wait to stop there, Pop’s Garden & Hardware in Princess Anne.  They have pumpkins and mums for fall, but will also have Christmas trees and wreaths when the time nears.  But, they also have year round hardware & equipment rentals available.  Check out the 15% off coupon (with purchase) located on page 28.

Because Christmas is nearing, that means there are tons of upcoming craft shows in the area.  The 26th annual Christmas Craft Fair sponsored by the Quota International of Salisbury will be held on Oct 27-28 at the Civic Center.  A Christmas Craft Expo at the Ocean City convention center will be held on Nov 3 & 4.  You can get $1 off adult admission with the coupon on page 37 and be entered in a drawing for a $300 shopping spree!  Berlin hosts a Victorian Christmas starting on November 23 and running through Jan 1.  Activities include a tree lighting ceremony, breakfast with Santa & reindeer, a parade and a New Year’s Eve celebration.  The 30th annual Holiday Shoppers Fair in Ocean City is scheduled for November 23-25 with an admission fee of only $3.  What a great way to get a jump start on your holiday shopping!

Having a holiday party and need a place to hold it?  Check out 2012 Restaurant of the Year, Mister Paul’s Legacy, in Salisbury (the old Webster’s 1801) as a venue.  Enjoy BOGO ½ off entrĂ©e when you dine in before Dec 31.  They offer family style fried chicken on Tuesday nights, karaoke on Wednesday nights, prime rib with 2 sides on Thursday nights, and entertainment on Saturday night.  The Holiday Jubilee is scheduled for Wednesday, December 12 at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center.  It costs just $25 per person and includes food and non-alcoholic beverages, while guests are free to bring their own “spirits!”

Have a hard to shop for person on your Holiday list?  Think about purchasing gift cards from Soft Touch Car Wash and save 20%.  Need vehicle maintenance instead?  Absolute Auto Repair in Princess Anne offers an oil and filter change for only $21.90.  Carl King Tire also offers a lube/oil/filter change for $22 (page 11).

Could you help save a life?  Absolutely!  Every 90 seconds, someone dies from cardiac arrest, and you could prevent that by taking one of the upcoming First Aid/CPR classes sponsored by the American Heart Association and Somerset County Department of Emergency Services.

Snacking is one of my downfalls, and are there some awesome snack coupons in this Frugals edition!  Baskin Robbins has any cone BOGO for 99c, Bagel Bakery is offering a FREE 12oz coffee with any $4 purchase (page 24).  You can get a drink and chips/cookies for FREE when you buy a regular footling sub after 5pm at Subway in Crisfield or Pocomoke (page 31).

The thought of home repairs can be quite daunting, but not when you have the current edition of Frugals in your hand.  Hickman Heating, Plumbing & Air is offering $25 off a heating system check up (page 32), Austin Cox has several offers available on page 9, including a FREE water test, and HandyPro has a $50 off any job located on page 42.

Don’t forget to enter yourself in the drawing for $50 worth of LORA gift certificates just by “liking” Frugals on Facebook.  One winner will be drawn during the months of October, November & December and notified via Facebook.  Don’t forget to spread the word to your friends, too!
